A small batch St. Magdalene 1982 Lowland single malt whisky bottled without chill filtration at 46% by Gordon & MacPhail for their amazing Rare Old series. This batch was bottled in 2015, so the whisky is either a 32-year-old or a 33-year-old.
This was one of around half a dozen bottlings of the 1982 vintage from St. Magdalene distilllery (also sometimes known as Linlithgow before its much-regretted closure in 1983) that were released by Gordon & MacPhail between 2001-2023. A glorious whisky - earlier vintages of St. Magdalene can be quite austere, but this is one of the delicious gentler examples, and of course it's always a a great pleasure and privilege to taste the last vintages from this marvellous lost distillery.
