An old bottle of Oban 12-year-old 'Unblended' Highland single malt whisky. This well-known, eye-catching fluted pear-shape bottle dates back to the 1970s and came with a separate glass stopper.
These splendid old 1970s Oban 12-year-olds were Diageo forerunner DCL's earliest official bottlings of Oban's single malt - at a time when they bottled very few official releases from their distilleries - and the back label boasted: "It is a small distillery employing only some fourteen men, but their skill produces what we regard as a unique flavour in Scotch whisky". Oban 12-year-old was discontinued no later than 1988, when the new Oban 14-year-old became part of DCL successor United Distillers' new Classic Malts range.
