Formerly known as Compass Box Great King Street Glasgow Blend, the now more sensibly-renamed Compass Box Glasgow Blend (Great King Street is in Edinburgh) remains a top quality concoction of peaty, sherried whisky, and considering it's around two-thirds malt whisky, it's great value as well.
Compass Box Glasgow Blend's current recipe includes grain whisky from Cameronbridge, sherried Speyside single malt from 'near the town of Aberlour' and hearty slices of Clynelish and Laphroaig.
Full, bold and smoky on the palate, Glasgow Blend unites the rich spice and fruitcake-like notes of Sherry cask ageing with the maritime punch of Islay malt whisky.
Wonderful poured into a tumbler or wine glass pre-or post-dinner, maybe with a splash of water. The added weight of Glasgow Blend will bring extra depth to whisky-based cocktails.
