Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky Distillery Bottling 70cl / 46%
An old bottle of Bruichladdich Rocks, bottled at 46% without colouring or chill filtration in 2006 when then-owners Murray McDavid had completed the distillery's rehabilitation and were really hitting their stride. Bruichladdich Rocks was matured in ex-bourbon casks and finished in casks that previously held the Southern French fortified red dessert wine Banyuls, and remained a popular part of the range until being discontinued in 2013.
Bruichladdich Rocks was the first release in a trio of lightly peated no-age-statement releases that also included Bruichladdich Waves and Bruichladdich Peat and were aimed at younger whisky fans or people trying Bruichladdich for the first time. The drams were inspired by the distillery's surroundings, with Rocks taking inspiration from the Rhinns of Islay. A great everyday dram that was frequently rumoured at the time to have been designed to be drunk with ice, though this may have been just a play on the name.
