An old bottle of Ardbeg Kildalton Islay single malt whisky, released by the distillery in 2013.

Kildalton is the name given to the very lightly peated spirit made as an experiment at Ardbeg. There were a pair of legendary Ardbeg Kildalton bottlings from the 1980 and 1981 vintages released at cask strength in 2004/5; this later edition from 2013 was made with rather younger, and slightly more peaty Ardbeg whisky, and appeared five years after the very young lightly peated Ardbeg Blasda edition from 2008.

This 2013 edition of Ardbeg Kildalton is a vatting of Ardbeg matured in a mix of bourbon casks and first fill and refill sherry casks and was bottled at 46%. Unlike the original almost unpeated versions from the 1980s, this is a big, tarry, chewy Ardbeg with many classical qualities to it, but still with a lighter phenolic profile than the standard core range Ardbegs.
