A 12-year-old Bunnahabhain Moine bottled to celebrate the Islay Whisky Feis Ile 2016. Matured initially in Bourbon casks when it was transferred and finished in Pedro Ximénez Sherry Casks. Bottled at a natural cask strength of 54.6%, unchillfiltered and with natural colour. The total outturn for this release was 833 bottles.
Bunnahabhain is known for light, unpeated whiskies, they produce a peated spirit (using peated malted barley) to compete with other, more robust Islay neighbors. Moine directly translates to "peat," identifying the whisky as a smoky Islay single malt. Unlike the signature unpeated Bunnahabhain, Moine expressions offer intense smoke, often combined with medicinal, maritime, and sea-salty notes.
