A small batch Compass Box Brûlée Royale blended malt whisky. A tribute to the caramelising techniques perfected by French chef Francois Massialot, who invented crème brûlée at the palace of Versailles in the 18th century, Compass Box Brûlée Royale was bottled at 49% without colouring or chill filtration and released in 2025.
Compass Box Brûlée Royale was assembled by Compass Box lead whiskymaker Samuel Travers using predominantly Benrinnes and Clynelish single malt whiskies, with a top dressing of malts from Speyburn and Ardbeg, with the whiskies matured in a mix of first fill and refill American oak casks, some of which were produced using modern computer-controlled toasting and charring technology that brings Massialot’s techniques to the modern day. A small batch of 8556 bottles at a sturdy 49% drinking strength.
