Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Distillery Bottling 70cl / 46.8%
Ardnamurchan AD/04.22:02 is the first core release of 2022 from indie darlings Adelphi's much-loved Ardnamurchan distillery in the Highlands.
Keen-eyed Ardnamurchan aficionados (Ardnaficionados? Ardnamurchanados?) will have noticed that Ardnamurchan AD/04.22:02's packaging has been subtly streamlined, and is now labelled simply as Ardnamurchan AD.
Thankfully for the Ardnaficionados, all the batch numbering and bottling info is still perusable via QR code, but for those who can't be faffed to scan the label Ardnamurchan AD/04.22:02 is, like its predecessors, a 50/50 split of peated and unpeated Ardnamurchan single malt whisky, with 65% from ex-bourbon and 35% ex-sherry casks, and has been bottled at 46.8% without colouring or chill filtration.
Official Tasting Notes
Nose: Toasted marshmallows on a pebbled Fascadale beach, minerals, orange oil, and popcorn.
Palate: Salted popcorn, smores, pebble beach, mineralic, sea salt, brine, lime cordial, charred marshmallows, bitter orange, dark chocolate, smoky old-fashioned cocktail.
It's OK, but way off the best that Ardnamurchan can produce.
The peated portion comes over as a wee bit too vegetal and unbalanced.
I wouldn't buy again.
Two stars only.
A nice whisky not to peaty wouldn’t say it was quite to my taste but certainly was worth a try
