Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Dram Mor 70cl / 57.2%
A 10-year-old Ruadh Maor 2012 bottled in 2022 by Dram Mor as part of their Christmas outturn.
Ruadh Maor, you'll recall, is the peated whisky made at Scotland's oldest working distillery Glenturret, and it's rare to find but great when you do. This particular Ruadh Maor was bottled after finishing in a first fill Portuguese red wine cask, with an outturn of 268 bottles at a natural cask strength of 57.2% - almost bang on the old Imperial 100-proof.

Tasting Notes
Official Tasting Notes
Colour: Toasted Auburn Brown Nose: I don’t know how smoke can smell sweet but it does, like toasted caramel and wood smoke with the barest tickle of pear drops, sticky red berries and soft ginger.
Palate: Smoky sweetness with caramel and really old, well-worn leather, and creamy fruitiness of the sweet red wine.
Finish: A luscious long finish with lingering wood smoke competing equally for your attention with the rich, sweet caramelised fruits, butterscotch and tannins.
