An old bottle of Glenlivet 12-year-old Speyside single malt whisky bottled at some point in the 1980s, when the distillery's excellence had long been established and this bottling was already one of the most popular and widely-available single malts on the market, setting the standard for the lighter style of Speyside single malt whisky.
These old 1980s bottles of Glenlivet 12-year-old are always gentle, delicate whiskies, with clean, crisp barley notes, light honey and floral notes, and a hint of vanilla and spices.

Complex with subtle dried citrus, raisins as I would usually like in a sherry cask but something (the smoke, grape skins ? from the sherry cask?) unwelcome reminds me of grappa.
