A 1989 Glenkinchie released in 2003 in the Distillers Edition series from Diageo's Classic Malts range, which Glenkinchie has served as the Lowland representative since the inception of the Classic Malts in the late 1980s.

The Distillers Editions of the Classic Malts were introduced a decade later and are all finished whiskies, with each distillery receiving a different finish in casks suited to its malt's stylistic qualities. Like the rest of the Distillers Edition Glenkinchies, this Glenkinchie 1989 was finished in Amontillado sherry casks before bottling at 43%, with the Amontillado adding a pleasing medium-sweet nuttiness to Glenkinchie's gentle, fresh Lowland character.
