Formerly known as Arran, and still the home of Arran single malt whisky, Lochranza is an independent distillery that began production on the island of Arran in 1995. Lochranza was the first of the new wave of Scottish distilleries and today, after years of dedication and careful maturation, the Lochranza distillery is reaping the rewards of its pioneering efforts, with a range of exceptional Arran single malt whiskies.
Arran/Lochranza distillery also used to distil a peated single malt whisky that was bottled as Machrie Moor, a deliciously smoky counterpart to the Arran style. Production of this smoky whisky has now passed to sister distillery Lagg, which opened on the island in 2019.
