Aberlour distillery (pronounced: ab-er-LOO-er) was founded in 1879 and has previously been described, perhaps unfairly, as Macallan with dignity. Such comparisons are odious, of course, as Aberlour is a brilliant Speyside distillery in its own right and the distillery’s whisky is a byword for great quality.

Aberlour has been producing some of Scotland’s most elegant, fresh, easy-drinking sherry matured Speyside single malt whiskies for decades, and is now the second best-selling single malt in owner Pernod Ricard’s Chivas Brothers distillery portfolio, outsold only by sister distillery Glenlivet.
