New Glenallachie 18-Year-Old and 30-Year-Old Coming Soon!

in Jun 4, 2021

*SOLD OUT 09/06/21*

More good news for Glenallachie fans - even after the abundance of single casks and the recent wine cask finish series, the distillery’s hectic release schedule continues! We’re delighted to announce that Glenallachie’s latest 18-year-old and the long-awaited new 30-year-old single malt from this reborn Speyside star are now nearly upon us, and should be on our shelves very soon.

The fresh 2021 batch of Glenallachie 18-year-old looks to be a little different to the previous release, with Master Blender Billy Walker tweaking the recipe a little. While the last version of this terrific dram was very much a mix of ex-bourbon and sherry casks, the latest batch looks to be considerably more sherry-heavy than before, with a lovely deep chestnut colour promising delicious dark fruitcake flavours.

Bottled at 46% without colouring or chill-filtration Glenallachie 18-year-old will be a dram in strong demand, so be sure to join our mailing list and follow us on Facebook if you want to be the first to hear when it goes live.

Glenallachie have 16 warehouses filled with over 50,000 maturing casks and Billy Walker is now in his fourth year of ownership at the distillery, so he’s probably got a pretty good handle on what’s in there by now. Sherry maturation was a big part of the success of Mr. Walker’s previous ventures at Benriach, Glendronach et al, so it’s no surprise to see Glenallachie going that way too.

All of which is to say that we’re pretty excited by this new Glenallachie 30-year-old bottling! It’s the latest addition to the Glenallachie core range and looks to be the distillery’s new flagship bottling. Billy Walker has selected nine casks from the 1989 and 1990 vintages to make this 30-year-old, with the cask recipe mostly Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso sherry hogsheads and puncheons, plus a smattering of virgin Chinquapin oak casks. As you would expect, this prestige edition Glenallachie has been bottled at its natural cask strength of 48.9% without colouring or chill filtration.

A total of 2000 bottles are being released worldwide for Batch One of the Glenallachie 30-year-old, so allocations are small and this will be a VIP only product. Glenallachie 18 Year Old will, however, be available on general sale.
