A bottle of Jura's 21-year-old Tide expression, one of pair of Jura 21-year-olds first introduced as Tide & Time in 2019.

The Tide variation of Jura 21-year-old has been matured in American oak before being finished in virgin oak casks for extra flavour impact, and has been bottled at 46.7% to give those flavours a welcome additional oomph.

Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

This Ballechin 18-year-old Cask Strength Batch 001 was bottled in April 2023 and represents the oldest core range cask strength official bottling of Edradour's heavily peated spirit.

Ballechin accounts for just 5% of Edradour's production, with only around 40-50 casks a year currently being filled, so it's a testament to owner Andrew Symington's careful cask husbandry that there's enough stock to make a batch of 18-year-old.

Ballechin 18-year-old Cask Strength Batch 001 has been bottled without colouring or chill filtration and weighs in at a promising 50.9% cask strength - hopefully this is the first of many cask strength aged Ballechins to come.

A magnificent resurrection for the White Heather blended Scotch whisky brand, after decades languishing in nostalgic oblivion. Billy Walker, impresario of Glenallachie has reclaimed the White Heather brand and reimagined it as a prestige blend, and there literally couldn't be a better man for the job.

White Heather 21-year-old has been made by vatting a batch of 18-year-old single malts and grains from ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks before returning them to sherry casks and a few virgin oak casks for an extraordinary three years of marrying before bottling at a hearty 48%.

The blend itself has a remarkable 47% malt content of which the vast majority is Speyside and Highland single malts (it's a fair guess that there's a hefty chunk of sherried Glenallachie in there), with a dash of Islay malt to add smoke and depth.

It's always great when an old favourite makes a triumphant return. Kudos to Mr Walker and his team, we can't wait to see what's next for White Heather whisky.

Nose: Beautifully soft background with heather honey, butterscotch, peat reek and hints of tannins.

Palate: Rich notes of heather honey, butterscotch, orange peel and soft tannins.

Finish: Balanced with a wonderful presence of peat and smoke.

Blanton's Original Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey was launched in 1984 by bourbon legend Elmer T. Lee as arguably the first luxury prestige single barrel bourbon range, and is often credited with helping to revive the flagging American whiskey market. 

Selected from the finest casks available at Buffalo Trace distillery, this Blanton's was bottled in 2022 from Single Barrel 428 at the Blanton's Original standard strength of 46.5%. These Blanton's Original single barrels are always delicious sipping drams and are a must-try for anyone exploring the bourbon category.

A 30-year-old Cambus 1991 single grain whisky bottled late in 20223 without colouring or chill filtration by Signatory Vintage for their Cask Strength Collection.

This 1991 Cambus is the sister cask to the last release and is matured full term in a refill oloroso butt 104229 with an outturn of 330 bottles at 50.5%.

Let's hope Signatory have plenty more of these casks strewn about!

A 27-year-old Glen Grant 1995 bottled without colouring or chill filtration in late 2022 by Signatory Vintage for their Cask Strength Collection.

This 1995 Glen Grant 27-year-old was bottled from a pair of bourbon barrels that yielded 384 bottles at an extremely tempting 49.1%. Most whiskies would be creaking after 27 years of maturation, but this is one of the great ages for Glen Grant, which really starts spreading its wings in its third decade. This will be fantastic stuff.

A 1996 Port Dundas 25-year-old single grain whisky bottled in 2022 by Signatory Vintage without colouring or chill filtration for their Cask Strength Collection.

This 25-year-old Port Dundas 1996 was bottled from a single hogshead cask that yielded a generous 268 bottles at its natural cask strength of 56.2%. Port Dundas was the most recent of the grain mega-distilleries to close, shutting its doors in 2010.

We've had a few of these Signatory Port Dundas bottlings from 1996 and they've all been excellent - if you're a grain whisky fan this will be right up your street.

Introduced in late 2022, this 21-year-old Tobermory is a welcome addition to the distillery's core range and has been bottled at the distillery's standard 46.3% without colouring or chill filtration. 

This first bottling of Tobermory 21-year-old came from a small batch of refill casks filled in 1999 before being transferred to Oloroso sherry casks in 2015 for the final seven years of maturation.

Although there's no hard and fast rules, we'd consider that a proper double maturation rather than a finishing period, so this unpeated Tobermory 21-year-old should be superb.

A single cask Tamdhu 2003 20-year-old Speyside single malt whisky bottled in 2024 by independent bottlers Gleann Mor for their Rare Find series.

This 20-year-old Tamdhu 2003 came from single cask 900260, a single Oloroso sherry hogshead that was bottled without colouring or chill filtration and turned out a total of 245 bottles at a very tempting natural cask strength of 51.1%. Tamdhu is an often-overlooked distillery, Gleann Mor's cask selection is always on point and this looks like a great price. Canny fans of sherried Speyside single malt should be all over this.

An official bottling of full term sherry matured single vintage Tobermory - this will be epic.

This Tobermory 17-year-old has been assembled from a largeish batch of Oloroso sherry casks filled in 2004 and bottled as a 17-year-old in 2021 at its natural strength of 55.9%. Tobermory's characterful spirit can more than hold its own in that company, and has come out with a delightful nutty, toffee-coated flavour. This should be a cracking dram for sherryheads and Tobermory fans alike.

Nose: Packed full of toffee and caramel, followed by almonds, blackcurrant and a hint of spice.

Palate: Rose petals, tropical fruit, walnuts, cherry and creamy toffee balanced with oak, tannins and hints of leather.

Finish: Unusually dry and nutty finish with a ginger spice.
