This Lowland whisky was bottled at 40% ABV, having matured for approximately 16 years.

St Magdalene, also known as Linlithgow Distillery, was established in the historic town of Linlithgow, West Lothian. The distillery had a long history of whisky production before closing in 1983 during a period of widespread closures across the Scotch whisky industry. Its buildings have since been converted for residential use, making St Magdalene one of Scotland's lost distilleries.

The distillery was known for producing a traditional Lowland single malt, generally characterised by a light, grassy and floral character, often accompanied by subtle citrus, malt and herbal notes. Gordon & MacPhail were among the independent bottlers to release St Magdalene whisky following the distillery's closure, helping preserve examples of its spirit for future generations.

Distilled just two years before the distillery closed, this 1981 vintage is an interesting example of St Magdalene's later production. Bottled in the 1990s with the distinctive blue Connoisseurs Choice label, it offers collectors and enthusiasts an opportunity to acquire a single malt from one of Scotland's long-closed Lowland distilleries.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0442/9293/1743/files/925677StMagdalene1981-1997Gordon_MacPhailConnoisseursChoice.jpg?v=1793719000
