Its spirit is produced predominantly from maize using continuous column stills and is an important component in many blended Scotch whiskies. Long maturation can transform this relatively light new make into wonderfully rich, sweet whisky, with mature examples often showing abundant vanilla, caramel, coconut and polished oak character.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis 1988 North British spent its full 35 years in a refill barrel and was bottled at a natural cask strength of 43.1%, without colouring or chill-filtration. Single cask DL18162 yielded just 167 bottles.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDouglas Laing's tasting notes:\u003cbr\u003eOpens dulcet with caramel, oak and spices.
