A 50 year old Mortlach distilled in 1936 and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in the late 1980s. This was a short lived but rather beautiful decanter series featuring G&M's wonderful Book Of Kells label. However, it's the whisky that is the star here; pre-war, long-aged Mortlach is one of the whisky worlds absolute treasures. An olfactory glimpse into a victorian era of distilling that produced some of the most incredible whiskies ever bottled.
