This limited edition was bottled at 42.3%, with just 1,500 bottles produced.

Founded in 1898, Glen Elgin Distillery is situated near the town of Elgin in Speyside. The distillery is known for producing a rich, fruity and characterful spirit, much of which has traditionally been used in blended Scotch whisky, particularly White Horse. Older official bottlings are relatively uncommon, making this 1971 vintage a particularly interesting release.

The 2003 Special Releases collection featured a selection of mature and limited-edition whiskies from Diageo's portfolio of distilleries. This Glen Elgin was among the oldest expressions in the collection, having spent more than three decades maturing before bottling. Its extended maturation and relatively low bottling strength of 42.3% distinguish it from many of the cask-strength releases in the series.

With only 1,500 bottles released worldwide, Glen Elgin 1971 is a highly collectable example of mature Speyside whisky from the early years of Diageo's Special Releases series.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0442/9293/1743/files/925665GlenElgin1971_32YearOldSpecialReleases2003.jpg?v=1793712504
