Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: The Alistair Walker Whisky Company 70cl / 56.4%
Croftengea is one of experimental distillery Loch Lomond's peated single malt spirits, made on their straight necked pot stills. This is one of the older indie Croftengeas we've seen, a 16-year-old from the 2005 vintage bottled by Alistair Walker Whisky Company for their Infrequent Flyers series.
As you might have guessed from the mahogany colour, it's also seen some sherry, being a Pedro Ximenez puncheon cask finish. Peat and sherry together with cask strength whisky equals bags of flavour, so we're guessing this one won't be around for too long.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Mahogany.
Nose: Contrasting aromas of brown sugar, cinnamon, iodine and star anise.
Palate: A chunky dram - great weight and balance. Lovely sherry cask influence - treacle, stewed raisins and sultanas, dark chocolate - all against a backdrop of soft, lightly medicinal peat.
Finish: Lingering, sweet and smoky.
