Linkwood 1990-2018 | 27 Years Old | Signatory Vintage 30th Anniversary
Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled By: Signatory Vintage 70cl / 50.3%
Signatory Vintage has to be up there with the best of the independent bottlers in the industry and to celebrate the 30th Anniversary they have released a collection of exceptional bottlings from many sought after distilleries...
Established in 1998 by Andrew Symington, Signatory Vintage is now regarded as one of the most dynamic, flexible and innovative bottlers in the industry. Signatory bottle whiskies across a number of ranges such as Cask Strength and Un-Chill Filtered collections.
This Linkwood was distilled in 1990 and aged for 27 years in hogshead #9735 before being bottled in 2018 with a yield of just 233 bottles. This bottling repeatedly flirts with sherry - firstly with exotic fruity aromas and heady floral tones and then tertiary aromas like a forest floor and black fruits.
The bottle is presented in a black lacker box with 2 Signatory Vintage branded Glencairn glasses.
Founded in 1821 by Peter Brown, Linkwood was completely demolished and then rebuilt in 1872 by his son William. In 1972 a second still house was added with 4 stills and was named "Linkwood B". "Linkwood A" ceased production in 1985 and the majority of buildings demolished and replaced. Linkwood has now pretty much been rebuilt and the number of stills increased to six.
Official Tasting Notes
Colour: Burnished gold with glints of copper.
Nose: A complex yet fresh and malty nose. Allowed to breathe and you can start to pick out exotic fruits like mango and spicy black pepper.
Palate: A malty palate initially that gives way to dried fruit and spices becoming more floral and earthy. The finish is woody and silky with apricot and plum notes.
