Jura 1991-2019 | 28 Year Old | Connoisseurs Choice Cask Strength
Island Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Gordon & MacPhail 70cl / 53%
Just a quick sideways ferry trip over the straights from Islay and you get to the shores of Jura. In some ways a similar but less inhabited Island to Islay but they do produce a very different whisky over there...
Batch 19/081 is a 1991 Isle of Jura bottled in 2019 by G&M for their new and improved Connoisseur's Choice range. G&M have also spiced things up and bottled this one at a natural strength instead of the usual 46%. It was matured for 28 years in a refill American hogshead that yielded just 205 bottles.
The Connoisseurs Choice series is an iconic series that started in 1968. To date, around 100 distilleries have been featured as part of the range, with over 2,000 individual bottlings. Each label on each bottle states all the information about the whisky inside such as cask type, strength, region, vintage and tasting notes.
Nose: Toasted malt with hints of toffee and chocolate orange.
Palate: Nuances of pipe tobacco and black pepper transform into vanilla pod.
Finish: Charred oak lingering finish.
