Like the rest of the entry-level Benriach core range that was relaunched late in 2020, the Benriach Smoky Twelve 12-year-old has been Three Cask Matured.
For Benriach Smoky Twelve, Master Blender Rachel Barrie has used Bourbon, Sherry and Marsala casks, with the latter adding an extra layer of elegant sweetness to counterpoint the smoke.
With that cask and spirit profile, and having been bottled at 46%, the Benriach Smoky Twelve looks to be the most characterful and full-flavoured of the Benriach core range, and as with its stablemates the price looks like exceptional value for what you're getting.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Burnished gold.
Nose: Smoked vanilla, charred orange and toasted almond.
Palate: Dark chocolate, fruit peel, brown sugar and smoked oak, lingering into a cocoa and orange smoked finish.
