North Star Spirits is an independent bottling company founded by Iain Croucher in Glasgow in 2016. The company has kept up a busy schedule ever since, with several batches of whisky released each year. 

North Star’s bottlings have a contemporary design feel, with broad dumpy bottles wrapped in colourful modern labels, and fortunately the whiskies themselves live up to the premise - the company has bottled several of the most sought-after independent malts to come out of Scotland in the last few years. 

Like most of their peers in the new wave of independent whisky bottling, North Star eschew both colouring and chill filtration, and almost all of their releases are bottled at cask strength. Highlights of North Star’s portfolio to date include a string of excellent 1990s Springbanks, a handful of 1980s Bunnahabhain and the micro-batch Vega blended malts, the oldest of which was 41 years old. In 2021 the company introduced their Periodical range, a series of occasional bin-end bottlings of low-yielding casks bottled at 50% in 50cl apothecary bottles and priced under £50.
