This vintage is noticeably darker than many of the others. Not surprising since it came from around the same time (and stock) as the legendary 'Gran Reserva' bottlings of the same age. Liquid christmas cake.

More of the same in terms of old style Macallan fruity, sherry intensity. By the late seventies the style was beginning to become more sinewy and chewy with a more modern meatiness to the spirit. However the fruit is still hugely abundant in the bottlings from this era.
