The third edition of Glengoyne's Legacy Series pays tribute to Sir Arthur Tedder, an Exciseman stationed at Glengoyne distillery over a century ago who went on to play a part in the great Scotch whisky trials in 1908.
Glengoyne Legacy Series Chapter 3 is a splendid dram made with unpeated Glengoyne whisky matured in American oak refill sherry and bourbon casks and has been bottled at 48% without colouring or chill filtration. A top-drawer malt and great value, as ever from Glengoyne.

Appearance: Deep Gold.
Nose: On the nose, signature Glengoyne deep sherry notes which accompany our distinctive cinnamon sticks and vanilla aromas. A very pleasing combination of mixed berry jam and apple strudel intertwine revealing some pear.
Palate: On the palate, a rich luxurious body that’s satisfyingly chewy with warm boozy raisins combining with spiced buns slowly giving way to tarte tatin and smooth cream sherry.
Finish: The finish is light and fruity, which deepens with hints of pineapple, dried fruits, dark chocolate and lingering spice finish are the aromatic ‘legacy’ of this wonderful dram before you reach for the bottle and go back for more.

I acquired mine after someone had poured it away, and used the empty as a candle holder. Despite imbibing this Glenrothes from a drain, it was decent. 57.1% seemed to remove any of the drain ickiness. It has also somewhat dulled the pain I'm still in from recently trapping my, ahem, in my zipper.
Since my daughter lives in Yorkshire I had to try this especially when I saw the peat finish. Its a promising young whisky but I would have preferred a more definite peat finish similar to the one on offer from the Glasgow Distilliery
