Lowland Single Grain Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Douglas Laing 70cl / 51.5%
Released in summer 2022, this 21-year-old Dumbarton 2000 single grain whisky has been bottled by Douglas Laing for their Old Particular series. The Dumbarton grain distillery was a large operation just north of Glasgow but was closed by owners Pernod Ricard in 2002, with some of the buildings later turned into housing.
This Old Particular Dumbarton 2000 came from cask DL15825, a 21-year-old refill hogshead that yielded 176 bottles at the slightly higher than normal strength of 51.5%. This will be a sweet treat for grain whisky fans.

Tasting Notes
Official Tasting Notes
Nose: Carries a barley sugar suggestion amongst citrus, toffee and gentle spices.
Palate: Opens very sweetly and warms to honey, golden syrup, and vanilla caramel.
Finish: Those earlier spices show through ahead of lovely hard sugar based candy.
