A legendary Port Ellen 1979, this 32-year-old was the oldest ever official Port Ellen at the time when it appeared as part of Diageo's Special Releases in 2011. This PE was assembled from a small batch of refill American Oak casks filled in 1979 and was one of the best of the Annual Release Port Ellens with a remarkable combination of raw power and complex flavours.
The 11th release Port Ellen 32-year-old was in hindsight probably the last of the truly great PE Special Releases, with outstanding balance and depth and the winning formula of power, intense smokiness and intricate layers of flavour.
