Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Gordon & MacPhail 70cl / 43%
An 11-year-old Bunnahabhain bottled at 43% by Gordon & MacPhail for their Discovery Range of accessible, inexpensive easy-drinking single malt whiskies.
The Discovery Range is colour-coded, with this Bunnahabhain 11-year-old's purple packaging indicating sherry maturation. Gordon & MacPhail's whiskies are usually very sensibly priced but even by their standards this looks like superb value for money.
Gordon & MacPhail
Nose: Rich and sweet with fruitcake and vanilla aromas. Sherry influences mingle with zesty citrus notes.
Palate: Spicy, with cinnamon, stewed plum and orange marmalade.
Finish: Smooth milk chocolate.
This G&M-Bunna combination with a sherry finish is wonderfully rich, with plenty of stewed/candied fruit in the taste profile, with caramel, toffee and burnt sugar notes evident. A pleasant strength at 43%. Enjoyed this so much I have a second bottle on order, highly recommended.
