Lowland Single Grain Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Berry Bros & Rudd 70cl / 58.1%

Cameronbridge plows on as owner Diageo's sole wholly-owned Scottish grain distillery, relentlessly churning out over 130 million litres of grain spirit a year for myriad Scotch whisky blends, alongside a hefty whack of Smirnoff, Gordon's and Tanqueray.

If Cameronbridge has a soul, it definitely doesn't reside in the distillery's lacklustre Haig Club single grain whiskies, as shallow and vapid as their famous footballer poster boy.

Cameronbridge distillery's true spirit potential is revealed only in indie bottlings such as this little treasure from our pals at London's eminent wine brokers Berry Bros. & Rudd: a 14-year-old single hogshead bottled at a hearty 58.1% - a mature but not ancient Lowland single grain whisky bursting with character.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Gives delicate dark chocolate aromas with coconut and banana. Given time, confected fruit notes emerge.

Palate: The palate is generous, swelling with abundant fruit, more coconut, toffee, and hints of tobacco leaf.

Finish: A sophisticated dram that evolves very well over time.

Jonny McMillan says:
“In my opinion, grain whisky can be a little characterless at times, and I’m rarely captivated in the same way I am with a good malt, however, this humble wee dram has a surprising amount to say! Plenty of zingy acetone, a touch of mashed banana and hints of dark chocolate make this a very refreshing change from some other bland grains.”
