Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Gordon & MacPhail 70cl / 46.6%
A quality single cask, cask strength, single malt scotch whisky bottled by Gordon & MacPhail for their high-quality Private Collection Series...
A fantastic 1982 Caperdonich from Gordon & MacPhail for their Private Collection Series. This whisky has been matured in a refill bourbon barrel, cask number 15179 for 36 years and bottled at 46.6% with an outturn of just 114 bottles.
The Private Collection is what Gordon & MacPhail is all about - Casks are personally selected by members of the Urquhart family and these are from whiskies of a great age from Scottish distilleries that are much celebrated, little known or closed. The whiskies are only selected for bottling when they are ready to be done so and timing is everything.
Official Tasting Notes
Nose: Soft and gentle aromas of citrus peel and traces of toffee combine with sweet hay and dried flower notes. Nuances of honeysuckle emerge, balanced by fresh highlights of newly-harvested mint.
Palate: Gentle flavours of liquorice root initially. Crisp red apple notes emerge; a drying oak undertone lingers before nutty notes surface. A generous sweetness remains.
Finish: Sweet flavours evolve into a refreshing element akin to newly-harvested hops. Mature oak endures on the finish.
