In order to bid and buy in our whisky auctions, you must first be registered. Creating an online account with us is straightforward and involves a one-off registration fee of £3. This is part of our due diligence to ensure we have genuine bidders.
There are no other auction houses that offer the unrivalled range of obscure and stunning rare whiskies, which we source. Each month we feature rare whisky that hardly ever come to auction alongside those that have never been seen on the open market before. There will always be bottles to interest you as a drinker, collector or investor.
Whisky-Online Auctions have more than 25 years experience in everything whisky-related. Whether you've got a single bottle or a collection whisky that numbers in the hundreds, you'll always receive the most honest and expert consultation we can provide on how best to sell your whisky.
Whisky-Online Auctions often hold dedicated miniature whisky auctions. Miniatures often get lost in our main sales so having a separate sale benefits from being given a greater focus in one of our specialist whisky miniature auctions. This allows greater attention to detail specific to the whisky miniatures and the buyers who seek them.
Bottle Level Guideline
On every auction Lot, the liquid fill level in the bottle is indicated in the product description. The fill level can make a significant impact on the price at auction. Tip! Always be sure to check the bottle fill level before you place your bid. See Bottle guidelines.
FAQs / Terms & Conditions
All Lots are scheduled to end at 8pm, if no further valid bids have been placed within the last 10 minutes these Lots will close. Any Lots that receive bids within the last 10 minutes will be extended by a further 10 minutes until a period of 10 minutes elapses where no further bids have been placed. Our auction extension and outbid email notification alerts mean that you'll be kept informed, which gives you the opportunity to come back into the auction should you be outbid. The email alert will stop being delivered at around 7.30pm on the closing day of the auction. Using our auto bidding feature means that you can place your maximum bid should you be unable to bid during the closing of the sale.
Timed auctions take place without an auctioneer calling the sale. During this time any Lot can be bid on for a defined time period. At the end of this period, the bidder who has submitted the highest bid wins. Remember when you first load a page the timer will display the length of time left before the auction closes, within the last 10 minutes things can change very quickly.
TIP! Remember to refresh your page regularly, as the page you originally loaded will not be up to date. Our system will refresh in intervals but to receive the very latest information it’s wise to refresh the page.
Auto-Bids / Single- Bids
Placing an Auto-bid or a Single-bid allows you to manage your budget. Avoid the temptation of getting into a bidding war; follow your wallet, not your heart. Once you've determined what you're willing to pay for a bottle, enter your maximum bid and let our auto-bid feature bid on your behalf up to your stated bid. Or you can use our new implemented Single-bid feature which allows you to bid in single increments. It's easy to get emotionally caught up in the thrill of the moment and continue bidding beyond what you can afford; our bidding features help keep this under control. Your maximum bid will be recorded under the auto bid tab, this will NOT automatically be the current bid. This is only used to place bids on your behalf if someone else bids. If you are outbid you will receive an outbid email acknowledgement. Remember to account for the commission charges which is payable to the final hammer price.
