Bottled at 43% this is quite obscure but very tasty, classic style Auchentoshan with plenty of green and citrus fruit qualities on top of a light sweetness and toffee apple note. Lovely, well aged, Lowland single malt.
Auchentoshan, Gaelic for "Corner of the field" was founded in 1817 and is situated today at the foot of the Kilpatrick Hills near the Erskine Bridge. It changed hands many times until 1969 when it was sold to Eddie Cairns who then proceeded to upgrade the distillery and then sold it to Stanley Morrison (later Morrison Bowmore) in 1984. It is known as the only Scotch whisky that is fully triple distilled and is today owned by Edrington Beam Suntory.
