Lauched in 2004 this has become a well deserved legend of an Ardbeg. Conceived as a mix of older sherried Ardbeg and younger bourbon matured stock, it has been innevitably prone to batch variation. With older bottlings being more gingery, salty and oily. These recent batches are arguably better however with a much heavier sherry slant and some phenomenal thick dark fruits with bags of coastal/peat qualities. More Details
This new Auchentoshan has spent a full 11 years maturing in ex Bordeaux French Oak casks. As usual with these more 'exotic' wood experiments the fact that it has been matured rather than finished is very promising. It means the quality of the French Oak is what does the talking rather than just the wine residues. This should be a sweet and fruity belter. More Details
Auchentoshan seem to have suddenly sneezed a bunch of fascinating new releases onto the market. This is perhaps the most intriguing, released initially as a distillery only bottling, the label states that it was designed to be a natural, full strength version of the Auchentoshan Classic. I suspect it is much better than that sounds. Young Auchentoshan at full strength is often fantastically light, refreshing and elegant spirit. More Details
Another great value dram from Benriach. This 12yo is very classical in style with lots of muscular malty tones, garden fruits, flowers and gently honey aspects. A great dram for anytime. More Details
Bruichladdich whisky under the new ownership became 10 years old at the beginning of September, and so it seemed fitting that, provided the whisky had reached maturity, that we would bottle the cask shortly after, we are convinced that this whisky is the first single cask single malt to be released from Bruichladdich since it's 10th anniversary of the new ownership....a proper wee laddie. Distilled in 1997 and double matured (read finished) in moscatel cask wood before bottling in 1997. These 'distillers editions' are amongst the most successful and well managed wood enhancements on the market today and this Caol Ila is no exception. Dark fruits mingle with thick, concentrated and well accented medicinal and smoky tones. More Details
These 'rivers' series of bottlings by Dalmore are good examples of classic, sherry driven Dalmore with lots of distillery character and muscle. Good old Highland luxury. More Details
