Speyside is the area around the river Spey in north-east Scotland and has more whisky distilleries than any other region. Although the area takes its name from the river Spey, most distilleries actually use water from other sources in the production of their single malts.
Speyside malt whisky tends to be sweet, not very peaty, and often with fruity aromas.
Speyside whiskies include some of the most famous single malts ever produced such as Glenlivet, Glenfiddich,Macallan and Glenfarclas.
These old Aberlours can be among some of the most beautiful sherry aged whiskies around and this old 21yo is no exception. Mouthwatering concentration of all kinds of subtle fruit qualities, not to mention the fact that it was bottled in 1991 so should be developing all kinds of new nuances now after nearly twenty years of bottle maturation. The Auchroisk chapter of the Manager's Choice series was matured in bodega sherry European oak with an outrun of 642 bottles. At only 9 years of age it is one of the younger entries in the series but it packs a super flavoursome rich sherry punch. More Details
One of the more divisive offerings from 2010's Special Releases. This is in fact an excellent Auchroisk that is just quite difficult and takes time and careful water addition to really understand. One for those who like to wrestle their drams. More Details
Aged Aultmores can be great and they are rarely seen so that makes this one an absolute steal. Leaving aside the fact that it's from a fine distillery for a moment, £99 for a 36yo singe malt is a no brainer. This should be stunning. More Details
This is one of the Cask Strength variants in the Flora & Fauna series. These are highly collectable and for good reason, they are stunning drams and this Aultmore is no exception. More Details

The Curiositas is Benriach's flagship peated expression. A brilliant malt at great value that offers an alternative take on peated malts in general. Highly recommended. More Details
Another great value dram from Benriach. This 12yo is very classical in style with lots of muscular malty tones, garden fruits, flowers and gently honey aspects. A great dram for anytime. More Details
A top notch effort in the finishing department by Benriach. This one is lip smacking stuff, full of stewed fruits, simmering spice and elegant sweetness. More Details
A foray into the sticky-sweet world of PX finishing from Benriach. The natural dryness of Benriach's distillate compensates the intensity of the PX very nicely here. A finely balanced dram all in all. More Details
One of the best malts in the Benriach range, the 16yo has a wonderful balance between some of the fresher, more youthful vivacity of younger expressions but also looks towards the tropical lusciousness of older examples as well. Great concentration of flavour, complexity and balance. A Fantastic whisky. More Details
