The early batches of Uigeadail famously contained 1975 ex oloroso casks in the mix. However due to the rocky stock profile of Ardbeg in recent years and the lack of excess aged stock, these casks have been substituted with younger sherry matured stock. This seems to have worked beautifully. Recent versions of Uigeadail seem to be better than ever and balance out the rugged nature of the Glenmorangie era distillate with the natural complexity and maturity of the Allied era stock from the early nineties. Whatever batch you get, this is a modern legend of a malt and something every whisky lover should try at least once. Constantly thrilling whisky.
